The benefits of basil seeds are highly valued in Ayurveda.

In FRIYA, they come with a tasty rose-cherry aroma to curb your appetite.

Chia seeds are true power-heroes, already used by the Aztecs.

In FRIYA, they come with a refreshing lime-ginger taste to fuel your body.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:

Free Ya! – was what both founders, Stephan and Vincenz, were thinking when they created this new superfood drink. Without further ado they quit their jobs and vigorously embarked on the new challenge. Their vision was to create a drink to contribute to quality of life.

During their research they came across these marvelous little basil seeds, which are the perfect ingredient to brighten up the daily routine and support a conscious lifestyle. The idea to create FRIYA was born. And hey, creating a new superfood drink with basil seeds is just great!

IT’S ALL IN THE NAME!

With the motto, “Free Ya” and the Nordic fertility goddess, “Freya” in mind the brand name FRIYA was derived – the founders’ idea in a nutshell: Free yourself from whatever you want, be inspired and enjoy every creative moment.

SUPERFOOD, SUPERDRINK: BASIL SEEDS

In Asia and India, Basil seeds have been cultivated for 5,000 years. In our region, basil seeds are far less well-known than the widely used, aromatic basil leaves. They are quite similar to the more popular Chia seeds from South America – no wonder as both belong to the Lamiaceae plant family.

Basil seeds also known as Sabja, Subja, Takmaria, Tukmaria and Falooda seeds are highly valued as part of a balanced diet in many Asian countries, mainly due to their tastiness and filling benefits. Even the Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicines swear by the properties of basil seeds. Now these little seeds are also recognized in Europe as so called superfoods.

Once soaked in water basil seeds become jellylike and can be used in puddings, desserts and other homemade creations. In Asia these seeds can often be found in drinks. But in contrast to FRIYA, a lot of sugar ends up in these drinks. FRIYA however, was consciously created to be free of unhealthy ingredients.
